Patches Aren’t Just for Nicotine #EnduroPacks

As an athlete I’m always trying to get an edge – physically and mentally. As you all know, I put a lot of time and energy into my physical training, and I’ve also spent a ridiculous amount of time on my mental game. Where am I lacking? In the nutrition department. I eat extremely healthy but, when I’m training for say a world championship competition, I’ve finally realized that all the fruits and vegetables on the planet aren’t enough fuel for my aging body. Damnit!

In that vein, I’ve been treating myself like a little science experiment. Once I decided I needed to supplement my diet, I started doing some research. And by ‘research’ I mean I went to some of the top athletes I know, and asked them to spill their secrets. Both John Newman and Tina Muir didn’t hesitate to tell me about EnduroPacks. It’s good to have elite athletes as friends, isn’t it?

Here’s how EnduroPacks work:

1. A daily system of vitamins and minerals. Yes, daily.

2. You take/spray/patch the above four items though out the day. Liquid multivitamin in the morning, spray in your water during training, amino acid patch after your grueling workout, and two immunity boosting tablets before bed.

As I’ve said before, I’m pretty lazy when it comes to food preparation and the same goes for a supplement system. I have to say that at first I was all “I have to do ALL of this everyday? What the what??” To many it may not seem like that much, but when you’re running a household, working part-time and chasing after 5 year-old twins, anything added in can seem like the proverbial straw, if you know what I mean…

I started out skeptical and thought “This had better work!” And guess what? After 30 days of consistently using all the products, I can honestly say that I have a lot more energy during my workouts, better recovery and my hydration levels have come way up! I know this though the scientific research I conducted about how many times I have to go to the bathroom though out the day, and the color of my pee. Very scientific.

Now, about that patch.

This is definitely something I have never done in my athletic career. I was a little wary of putting something directly on my skin and having it absorb into my body. But, I spoke with one of the great guys at the company in-depth about it, and he was able to answer all my questions and ease my concerns. The idea is to get a ‘trickle’ effect over the course of the day, instead of taking more pills. I’m all for that!


The only downsides to the patch? It’s hard to explain to your kids, and it does leave a bit of a residue on your skin that you have to scrub off. For the benefits, I think I can deal.

What are the benefits? More energy during my hour plus training sessions, and better recovery afterward. Now, I haven’t had the pleasure of feeling the effects after a hard race or competition BUT, I was able to train eight days in a row, without feeling overly sluggish, as I have in the past. That alone will have me coming back for more.

  1. Glad you liked EnduroPacks! I was so skeptical especially about the patch. BUT it’s the real deal. I stopped using it when I wasn’t running but have another round waiting for me when I start heavy training again.

  4. Very cool stuff. I have never dabbled into amino acids but it seems to be showing up more and more. I will say I am a believer in patches–my acupuncturist has given me herbal patches to put on sore spots and they totally work. Even if they do have a stinky smell!

  5. I am completely skeptical about supplementts, etc but have been trying EnduroPacks recently too and I have to say, I’ve been pleasantly surprised. I’m glad to hear that others have had good experience with it too which makes me feel more confident about it all. And they are such a great company!

  6. Oh wow! I can barely remember to take my prenatal vitamin once a day! Haha. That is so cool that it was created by an athlete for athletes. I can definitely see where this would come in handy when training for a big race. It can be so hard to get all the nutrients you need from your foods unless you are just constantly eating (not that there is anything wrong with that!). I also like your scientific approach!

    People don’t talk about the birth control patch anymore (why not??) but I remember thinking that the patch technology could be used for a lot of ways!

    I haven’t used a patch or supplement but lately I feel like I need a supplement or something just to make it through the day. I’m going to hope it is just a rough week(s) and that soon I will feel like myself again!!!

  9. Interesting, I’ve never heard of this before. I’ll have to check it out. I don’t take any supplements. I started using Skoop sweetgreens everyday though…normally I would get sick everytime the kids do, but since taking it everyday, I haven’t caught any of their illness yet! Placebo? Maybe, but I’m sticking with it. Full of antioxidants, probiotics, superfoods!
