Go ahead, ask me anything! Unfortunately, I’m only talking to Michelle from Dish of Daily Life. She asked me to be her partner for this Friday’s #AskAwayFriday link up and I jumped at the chance. I believe the exact exchange was:
Michelle: Do you want to partner with me for Ask Away Friday?
Me: Sure!!! Um, what is it?
I will do anything that involves partnering with Michelle. She’s an amazing writer, she’s super relevant, has great advice and has helped me get more “Likes” on FB, more followers on Twitter and Instagram and helped to streamline some of the inefficiencies I had as a newbie blogger. She. Is. Awesome. In fact, what the hell have I done for her? Who cares…she has partnered with me and she can’t take it back now!
You can find her:
Blogging at A Dish of Daily Life
Facebook A Dish of Daily Life
Tweeting as DishofDailyLife
Pinning as Dish of Daily Life
Google+ as Michelle Nahom
And, believe me, you want to find her! Plus, she will be answering the questions I asked her and you don’t want to miss that!
Now, onto the questions Michelle has asked me to answer:
1. What’s the craziest thing you’ve ever done?
Move across the country to Los Angeles all by myself when I was 22. Obviously my mom had passed away by then because what mother would let their child do this? My dad was not happy either but he taught me a great lesson of letting your kids follow their dreams – no matter how insane! After graduating college, I moved out there all alone. It was nuts but I ended up getting a great job, meeting amazing people and then I moved back home three years later. It was one of the greatest experiences of my life. Thanks Dad!
2. What Social Media outlet are you most addicted to and why?
This is a tough one but I have to say Facebook…or Twitter….ugh, ok I guess Facebook. It’s like a 24 hour gossip channel. Cray cray.
3. What is your favorite thing about blogging?
Having random conversations with people who read my blog. The other day, a really nice older gentlemen who works at my gym starting discussing my Boob Job post with me. Awkward. The odd thing is that I put myself out here and then think people I know don’t read it!! I’m always surprised when someone like that says “Oh, I read your blog!” It makes me really happy…and then mortified!
4. Favorite place you’ve ever lived?
In a shed on Cape Cod with one of my best friends in the world. We lived in West Yarmouth together in the summer of 1996 when we were going into our senior year in college. We rented what was literally a shed on a business property. It had bunk beds, a couch, a TV, a small kitchen and an even smaller bathroom. We worked at a pizza place during the day, went to the beach and partied all summer long. We literally sat on the floor and cried when we had to leave to go back to school in September. It was a completely carefree summer and we enjoyed every minute.
5. What is a typical morning like for you?
Every morning involves each of the following in no particular order: washing, brushing, eating, yelling, sweating, crying (usually the kids but not always), pleading, begging, reminding, more yelling, making, baking, kissing (usually the kids but not always), running/cycling, driving and typing!
6. Team Droid or Team iPhone?
iPhone baby!!! I love my iPhone…except when I want to smash it into little tiny bits. Mostly, I love it.
7. What is your proudest moment?
My proudest moment was delivering healthy twin boys at 37 weeks! I never thought I would make it and I was terrified they would end up in the NICU. Hearing them cry and seeing them for the first time was absolutely my proudest moment ever. Had I been able to see four years into the future I would’ve tried to savor that a little more!
8. If you had to give up running, what sport would you do instead?
Swimming. It would be the most challenging for me and well, I love a good challenge! I’m also assuming that if I’m not running something very bad has happened to my knees and/or entire lower half of my body and therefore, I can’t cycle either.
9. Who inspires you?
Working moms…I mean ones with full-time, salary needing, wake-up early, go to bed late, Lean In kind of women! Lean in a little extra for this SAHM will you please?…as if you don’t have enough to do.
10. Favorite comfort food?
Is a cheeseburger with a fried egg and avocado considered “comfort food?” If so, that’s what I want!
What’s your favorite question? What’s your answer?
Love this – 2 of my favorites linked together?! Perfect post for a Friday (or Thursday night, whatever!!).
Your typical morning would send me back to bed!!!
It’s still Thursday night!
I agree – a perfect pairing. Love Michelle…& you too Kim! We need to hook up on a workout video post!
Well I adore Michelle and I adore you. And I know we’re going to get together this fall.
My favorite questions were…all of them. I’ll settle on the iPhone vs. Droid one. I had a Droid once and it seriously was the worst thing ever. I have an iPhone now and it has changed my life. Maybe not for the better…attending to kids wise…but I’m very efficient.
Awesome partnership!!!
Thank you Tamara!!! We HAVE to figure out a date to all get together! iPhone all the way baby!!
Allie, could you be any more adorable? I’d say I want to be you when I grow up, but in reality, I think it’s more like I want to be you if I were 10 years younger. And how adventurous are you that you moved cross country at 22?
And I too assume that no one is reading my blog and then I go into Girl Scouts to pick up my daughter and another mom from school is discussion the most personals of my personal life that I put out there for the world to see. Funny.
I also wish I was 22 again!! I was so brave & adventurous. I guess I’m that way with my kids now but it’s just not the same of course!!
It’s funny how we think we blog in a bubble!! Glad I’m not alone on that one:-)
My favorite question/answer is whats your typical morning. I totally get it. As far as being a SAHM, enjoy it. I stayed at home with my boys when they were little and I wish I can go back.
.
I definitely enjoy it and I will never regret my decision. I’m sure I’ll be a working mom soon enough!! Thanks Kris.
Love, love this Allie! 1) Michelle is da bomb! 2) You are da bomb! 3) I’ll lean in for you any day my friend, although most days I’m just trying to keep my sh!# together and am faking it so hard so no one sees what a complete disaster I really am.
Love you Nicole! We’re ALL doing the exact same thing. Let’s try and hold it together just one more day!!
I knew Michelle was awesome, but dang! She is awe.some 🙂 I love how adventurous you are. Reminds me of my younger self… Man! kids changed me… I’d pick swimming also if I couldn’t run…although i’m still learning. it’s a really good work out though
Thanks Hope!! Yes, those darn kids change you, don’t they? Swimming is definitely a great workout but it’s last on my list right now!!
So you worked at KCBS when you were IN college. And then you moved back out to LA after you graduated? Not sure that I knew this. And why didn’t I see you again in LA after that? Oh yeah, we were 22. 😉
Oh Lisa there’s so much you don’t know about me:-) ha ha ha!!! Yes, I moved back to LA after college and lived in Santa Monica for three years! Not sure why we didn’t hook up after that?? The important thing is we are on Saturday! Cannot wait!!!
Loved learning more about you. That summer spent in the shed sounds amazing – easy living when life was so simple. I’d like to go back to those times :). I am also excited and then mortified when people I know in real life tell me they read my blog.
You nailed it – simplicity! We didn’t have a care in the world.
I love this post! So awesome! Hmm…I guess I would answer number 1 because I identified a lot with it. When I was 22 I picked up and moved to the otherside of the world to live with a person I had dated for approximately 4 months and then a year long-distance (we saw each other twice during that time). My parents were really not happy at all. Especially when I told them that I was only going for one year to do a master’s degree and ended up staying for two. Best thing I ever did though! Oh that boy is now the Hubs so that worked out! 🙂 I love the photos of your boys. They are just too cute for words!
OMG that is a great story!!! Sometimes you have to defy the parents & go with your heart!
Love that you and Michelle are the two that partnered up! I can so relate to #2! I was grocery shopping one day and a lady walked up to me and was like…I LOVE your blog! My first reaction was of perplexion (is that a word). Then she mentioned one of my posts and I was like…you really DO read my blog! I had never met this lady a day in my life! Then my second reaction was like…how did you find MY blog? She said that she googled “Bloggers in (our town), SC) and my blog came up. She says she’s been reading ever since! Crazy, right? I still feel wierd when my friends (and my personal trainer) mentions something I said in one of my posts! LOL!
OMG that is hysterical!! You’re a local celebrity! I can see how you had total “perplextion.”
Ohhh I love fried eggs on my cheeseburgers but never tried it with avocado too!
You must try it!!…and don’t forget the sweet potato fries:-)
This was really fun! First, I so admire anyone who picks up and goes like that. Good for you! And can I tell you that your 1996 summer sounds just like my 1986 summer? I was in Hyannis w/ a great friend, living in not quite a shack, working several jobs, including a pizza shop! It was truly one of my best summers, ever. And I, too, would make swimming my go-to if forced to give up running. Great post!
I can’t believe we were living the same life in the summer of 1996! Who knows? We may have even been in the same bars and beaches! That is too funny.
I just read 86! Oops. Ok so maybe I was at the same places, just several years later. Still very cool!
This was so much fun to read! I was thinking wow, she is so adventurous moving cross country at 22 and then I realized I did it too. I grew up and went to college in Colorado and then I moved to Connecticut after I graduated to follow my man, who graduated before me. Don’t worry, I was responsible, I did have a ring. 🙂 But still I picked up and moved! Not quite as brave as what you did, but definitely brave for me. It always cracks me up when I meet someone who doesn’t comment but does read my blog…of course those people are out there! I loved Britton’s comment about the grocery store – that would blow my mind. And yours about the boob job…oh that is hysterical! Loved partnering with you…thank you for saying yes!!
It’s brave no matter what! I would have hated leaving Colorado…but it was obviously well worth it for you.
So weird when we’re confronted with readers! Of course there’s way more that read and don’t comment.
This was so fun. I would say yes to you any day!
I have EXACTLY that same reaction when someone I know says they read my blog…happiness then mortification! Hahaha! SO TRUE!!
These were so much fun!! (and now I want a cheeseburger with avocado. I’m not sure about the egg, though! 😀 –Lisa
Try the egg! It sounds weird but it’s amazing. Thanks Lisa!!
Thank you so much for joining us and becoming a new member to #AskAwayFriday! I love to swim too just wish I could do it more but that’s why we are joining a gym so I can get a little break and work out in a way I love!
This was great! I’m so glad Michelle extended the invite. Thanks for reading…on my way to read yours…
I so love number 5! It’s almost the same at my house minus the running/cycling and driving. 🙂 Moving all by yourself was such a brave thing to do! I never left my mother’s nest until I got married. I am one of those scardy cats who is a bit afraid of change. So nice knowing you through AAF! Have a great weekend!
I think all moms have a similar version of #5! Change is definitely scary and I questioned my decision more then once, especially in the beginning. So glad you came by to read for #AAF!!
I would LOVE to go to Cape Cod, jealous. Oh and I just switched to an iphone and I love it!!! Please pass some of your running abilities to me too please. 🙂 Loved getting to know you.
It was a great summer and we go back with our families now to vacation. Thanks for reading and commenting! Enjoy your iPhone!
Michelle is amazing! Loved that you 2 partnered up! That shed sounds amazing. My comfort food is pizza and hot wings of course. How can I get in on Ask away? I just love these!
The shed was completely cool…as far as sheds go! Love pizza and hot wings too. I think you can get in on it next week! That would be fun. I don’t know all the rules but if you ask Michelle, I’m sure she does!! Hope you do it next week…
Two of my faves together! Love your answers – moving cross country at 22~ Wow! Brave girl!
Thanks Leah!! I was equal parts brave and inexperienced. Couple that with being 22 and crazy things happen!
Love Michelle!! I cant believe someone talked about your boob job post with you. I would totally run away and hide! I am a terrible swimmer so that would definitely be a chalenge for me too! I loved all of these questions!
I wanted to!! It was so awkward.
Michelle did a great job with the questions. It was a lot of fun…
The comfort food in #10… now that’s a combination! i’m only now beginning to like avocado, so I might have to go easy on that portion of the comfort dish.
The shed and that summer must have been awesome, Allie! Along with packing up everything at age 22 to move cross country… these are memories for a lifetime. Nothing ventured, nothing gained… and you sure did venture and gain!
It’s always great to read your posts! Have a good one!
Avocado is so yummy on so many things…or just all by itself! Yes, I’ve had lots of adventures and I wouldn’t trade any of them. Now, I just have twin adventures but that’s enough for me. I’m getting old!! ha ha ha…
You are going to laugh at me because being from California everyone assumes that I am an avocado freak but I can’t get past them. I just can’t, I want to but it’s not happening.
Your twins are adorable and just too cute for words.
I’m an iphone addict all the way. My husband as a droid and I refuse to use it for anything. It’s so left field for me.
Ugh …
I also love the random convo’s with bloggers! It’s the best!
Great getting to know you.

Is it a texture thing with the avocado? If so, I get it but they’re so delicious AND good for you. I have a few friends who have Droids and I’m like, really?? Who has those??
Thanks for reading and commenting!!
