I remember when the boys were babies, I used to stare at them in utter disbelief that there wereΒ two! Somedays I still cannot believe I have twins. I also remember thinking how it would ever be possible for these tiny little babies to talk? Just thinking that someday I would be able to have a conversation with them, blew me away! What would they say?
Miles and Vaughn will be six on Monday, April 13. How the hell that happened I haven’t a clue. What I do know is they never.stop.talking and I (mostly) love it. They are both so curious, funny and leave me shaking my head – either because they have memorized a scene from a movie that they both act out, or because they are mimicking me when they sayΒ “Seriously?” Β with just the right amount of sarcasm. It’s hard living withΒ twoΒ little versions of yourself.
Here’s some other hilarious things they have said over the years:
Miles: Mom, if you were a robot I would take your batteries out.
Clever, very clever, and I actually wish you could do this. I need a recharge!
Miles: When I’m a magician I’m going to turn Vaughn into a turkey and then I’m going to eat him.
I love that he’s so sure he’s going to be a magician. There’s no “if” in that sentence, and the rest is just disturbing.
Vaughn:Β (talking to me)Β If you got hit by lightening, I could do whatever I wanted.
Oh that is so sweet.
Miles: Why is there fur on my legs?
Me: It’s not fur, it’s hair and everyone has it.
Miles: That’s gross.
Agreed! You’re lucky you’re a boy and don’t have to shave and wax it off kid!
Aunt Carla: I had to have a knee replacement because I have old bones!
Miles: Do your bones have beards on them?
HA!!! This lead my aunt to declare him “exceptionally smart.” He’s just an exceptional smart ass.

This was taken at the personal training studio I used to own. I took them there a lot to get it all out!
Me: Vaughn, do you know how many miles I’m running today? 20!
Vaughn: Why not 100?
Clearly he should be my coach. Sorry CRS but the kid has a vision.
Miles: (upon finding Johnny Elf aka Elf on a Shelf in his room)
Vaughn!!!!! Johnny Elf is in here! If I knowed he was going to fly up there, I wouldn’t have taken my eyes off that spot all night!
And these are only the quotes I have written down! I also have countless videos of them “unboxing” their Skylander toys and doing all kinds of singing and dancing routines.
These two have made my life what it is and not a day goes by that I’m not thankful for having TWO, talkative, active, adventurous little men in my life. Happy Birthday boys – I hope you never lose your enthusiasm…and I’ll be here to record it all.

This was taken at the park, on June 12, 2012. It was my very first day of being a stay-at-home mom. It was the start of something amazing…
What funny things do your kids, nieces, nephews, friend’s kids say?
Was most definitely smiling and laughing reading the quotes above and got my fair share from my girls, too as kids really do say the darnedest things! Happy Birthday to both you boys π
Happy Birthday to your two cuties! I’m always amazed at what my kids remember from last year or the year before. They keep me entertained and always wondering what will come out of their mouths next.
Thanks Angela! You just never know what they’re going to say. So far, they haven’t gotten me into any trouble π
So so adorable! I love the batteries comment haha! #mademyday Seriously, where does the time go!
I have no idea where it goes and I just wish we could slow it down. The good news is I survived the weekend π
They are so stinking cute, both physically and from the sounds of it, personality wise too. Double the fun for you! And trust me, the time will just continue to pick up speed–you blink and they are almost adults. Every single day I reflect on how I want time to just slow down. I’ve found it one of the hardest parts of parenting.
It truly is the hardest part. Everyone says it but you just don’t understand until you experience it.
YES, they are double fun for sure!
Ha this was a nice light hearded post, thanks for sharing. Happy birthday to them as well! π
Happy early birthday Miles and Vaughn!!!! Are we celebrating this weekend?? I love all of these quotes and pictures omg they are just so cute and incredibly smart! I know a couple of people I’d like to take the batteries out of for sure!! We have six year old Allie! What?!?!
I know!? What??? Crazy!! And yes, there was lots of partying and it continues today!
OMG you need a warning at the top of this post that says cuteness overload!
Happy birthday boys!
Happy bday to my fellow Aries! Love the memories and the bones and beards comment. i remember taking your kick classes when I was preggers. That baby just turned14!!!! So many funny things they’ve said. I remember asking my son what he wanted for breakfast when he was about 4. He responded, “pancakes and lollipops.” Right! Like that was ever going happen. This was back in the day when I sterilized every toy that hit the floor. Now I whole heartedly believe in the 5 second rule and then some. Enjoy every moment, can’t even believe mine are 9, 12 & 14. They all make me laugh out loud every day!!
OMG 14? That is truly crazy!!! At least they keep us laughing, right??
These are GREAT!!!!!! Happy Birthday to him!!!! My daughter turns 13 tomorrow!!!!
The bow ties are to die for…SO cute!!!!!!!!
Ok, so just yesterday at my grandma’s funeral, we were driving to the church in the procession and someone cut in front of us and my youngest said “Hey! He is not supposed to cut off the percussion” :)…it was cute…brought a little funny to a sad time.
I’m sorry about your grandma but yes, at least your kids can make you smile even in the worst situations! Gotta love them. Thanks Jen!
Your kids say the cutest things! I have a really good friend who has three little ones, and they say the best stuff.
It’s constant comedy. Gotta love it!
I love all of this!! We try to write down quotes too although there are way too many that never got recorded. Happy six years to your sweet boys!!
I’ve tried to be better about writing them down but…
Thanks Laura!!
ohhh my goodness. I am gushing over their banter AND their cuteness. But just wait until the turn 16. heheheheeeee. You’ve been warned! π
Oh please!!?? I know what’s coming and I’m going to really enjoy 6!
This is AWESOME.
My twins are two now, and my daughter is a mumbling chatter box all day long. And she pushes me around. I think she thinks I’m her personal butler.
Wait. I guess I am her personal butler. Maybe I’ll change my name to Benson. That’s an age-appropriate joke. Ha.
Anyway, love the pics and jokes. Thanks for sharing.
I totally get that reference and yes, we are their personal everything!! The boys are now getting pretty independent but they will try and trick me into doing things for them that they can do for themselves. It makes it interesting π
Thanks James!
HAHAHA! Out of the mouths of babes… This is awesome. I love that you admitted you didn’t know which one that was a pic of. I always wondered how parents of twins kept them straight.
The baby pictures are the hardest to identify!! My husband is better at it then I am, I think!? Hahaha
Well Scarlet has an alarming number of quotables I’ve admitted in this world!
The twins have the same birthday as Cassidy! Happy Birthday to all three tomorrow.
I can’t believe I haven’t seen these cuties in a year or so! Uncool. Also, I think I can tell them apart!
OMG Happy Birthday to Cassidy!!! And yes, Scarlet has some so great, funny, smart and wonderful things!
Getting together is long overdue!
Love every part of this post!!! It makes me smile that even you can mix up their baby pictures – real life for sure!!!
I think twins are one of the most special things ever – maybe because I am a twin – but every day after I had Hunter I was thankful I didn’t have twins!!!! I would not have survived!!!
The only reason I survived was because I had A LOT of help!! I know you can totally appreciate all the twin-ness and I love that you’re a twin too π Thanks Kim!
Awww Happy Birthday Miles & Vaughn! They are so so funny. How cute are there little chubby baby faces?
Coops (obviously) can’t talk yet but he still does the funniest things. His faces are priceless and the sounds he makes just make me laugh so hard.
They are definitely funny from the start! I love that you’re enjoying everyday with your little man π
haha they are the cutest!! Love this post so much. Kids are the funniest and it’s crazy how fast they grow, isn’t it? Happy Happy Birthday Miles and Vaughn!! And to you mama.
SO crazy! Thanks Christine!
Hahaha, I love their quotes!
Happy Birthday, boys!
(also, I look at my twins and still shake my head in disbelief that I have two at the same time, what the what?)
It’s truly mind boggling!!
Happy belated birthday boys! I love this! They are so adorable! You are blessed!
I really am! It was a great weekend π
