Wouldn’t it be great to be a spy? Obviously not an actual spy like on Homeland where you could get killed every half-minute, have to subject yourself to various forms of torture and have more pictures of dead bodies on your iPhone than a serial killer. I mean a fun spy like Cloak and Dagger, remember that movie?

Those walkie talkies are now bigger than an iPad!
I wished so badly something that exciting would happen to me and my brother down at the local video game store. We used to spend hours pretending water guns were real, making trip lines with string and running around like lunatics with backpacks filled with Atari games, running for our imaginary lives.
So, when MukikiM Toys offered to send me some spy gear for the boys, I think I was more excited than they were! Although the NYC Toy Fair wasn’t a great experience, working with the people at MukikiM and SpyX has been the complete opposite.
First, let’s check out the toys…I mean Spy Gear…
MICRO MOTION ALARM
This was, by far, the favorite for obvious reasons…
We needed to hide that thing by the second day because they were really tricking us with it and, one night I almost fell down the stairs because it went off when I was going up to bed at 10pm 9pm 8:30pm. I did not even see it…which I guess is the point.
MICRO LISTENER
The boys couldn’t quite figure this one out and, instead of spying on conversations, they would hold up the end piece and make us talk directly into it. Of course after that they were shouting back and forth trying to blow each other’s ear drums out (see video demo below). I didn’t try to correct them since, the less they overhear, the better off I am.
EYES AND EARS
My boys already think they can see in the dark so, they especially loved the micro eyes to “enhance” the effect. Sometimes when I check on them at night, their room is lit up from various lights they leave going as “traps.” I go around and turn them all off to preserve the batteries since, if there’s one thing we go though more than food in this house, it’s batteries!
NIGHT NOCS
Is there a kid alive who doesn’t love binoculars? And these have a RED light, which obviously makes them 100% cooler than any other pair. Plus, they really do work in the dark and the vision is clear and far! I was impressed when I was able to use them for 5 seconds before they were snatched back by four little hands!

What are your kids current favorite toys?
Do your boys or girls play spy?
Are you old enough to remember Cloak and Dagger? Atari? Anything from the 80s?
How fun! My kids would love that stuff. I haven’t caught them playing spy yet. Right now they both love anything Star Wars. Ron has watched ALL of the movies with them and some Lego cartoons with Star Wars. I never played Cloak and Dagger but our neighbor had an Atari and we would all fight over playing it. Especially the tennis game.
OMG the “tennis” game was a favorite in our house too. It’s so insane how far technology has come with video games! Make it stop.
OMG! They are so adorable! I used to hate that the toys that my boys had were so loud! My sister, before she had kids, would give them those noisy toys. Gave her few for paybacks…lol! These would be something my nephew would absolutely love!
I know! I have to hide that thing because they put it everywhere!! I have also had the pleasure of giving a few paybacks to relatives so I know exactly what you mean!!
Adorable- they are going to have so many hours of fun with that!! My oldest learned about spies from her cousins and sometimes they play together, but it isn’t something I’ve seen her do at home. She’s mostly into playing school and being the teacher, or gymnastics all over the house!
And that is the difference between boys and girls! The only time my kids play school is when my niece is here…and she is the teacher of course!
Seriously the cutest ever. That noise would drive me crazy too–my little came over because he heard the voices of your boys and ask ‘Can we start it again mommy?’ So I did. The of course ‘I want that!!” lol so thanks.
They are seriously so cute, I was laughing out loud when they threw each other to the ground (yes, I am very familiar) and how similar they are to my boys!! We seriously need a playdate somehow. Also (and most important of all!) I have the SAME toy basket. Yet, there are still toys….everywhere!
HAHAHA – I love it!! I was thinking of your boys when we made that video 🙂
And YES somehow, someday we will get a playdate in because obviously they would have a blast.
Too funny about the toy basket. I did a quick clean-up before filming but, there are toys usually toys everywhere. I’ve given up.
Right now my kids favorite toys are all things that have to do with the pool or ocean! :). My girls LOVE spy stuff though!!!! Especially my oldest. She just turned 14 and she wants some sort of spy helicopter thing that apparently has a camera on it. We have a lot of the Spy Gear stuff. My oldest has never really been into dolls or princess stuff. She is all about spy stuff, sports and fishing :). Have you ever gone on Pinterest and just searched “popular things from the 80’s”? You will find some great stuff that I had totally forgotten about!
I have never done that but now, of course I will have to!
I’m sure with your new locale it’s all about the ocean. That is just amazing!!!
Love that your girls are into the spy stuff, although this may be a little young for them 🙂
This is excellent! You know, when my boys were around 8-10, they played with Lego all day every day but now my stepson is 9 and he haaaates Lego. My boys loved reading, and he haaaates reading. It’s really hard to find him stuff to do! I think because he’s the second youngest (Callum is 2) he feels like he wants to do all the stuff that the older kids are doing. It’s a tough gig sometimes.
I can imagine!! One thing about having twins is that they are generally into the same stuff at the same time but, that is also a perfect recipe for fights. Lots of them! Good luck mama and just keep doing what you’re doing 🙂
Thanks. 🙂
They are adorable. Love it! And glad to see they act just like my boys!!
Yep. No editing. This is real life and that was pretty mild so.. 🙂 Thanks Sue!
I think my cat is plotting to kill me. I’m pretty sure Kitty already has this spy set as part of her sinister plans. I am doomed.
You’re as good as gone.
Please remember me in your will.
Thank you.
My boys used to love spy gear when they were little! This post just brought back those fun memories! Enjoy!
Seven really is a great age! I’m trying to savor all the good…:-)
Wow! These are really cute kids! This is definitely the best way to keep the kids at home.
