Since I have exactly one week until Triathlon Nationals in Omaha, NE I’m actually wanting time to slow the hell down! I seriously cannot believe the race is almost here, and that triathlon season is almost over for me. Instead of wallowing in self-pity (I’ll do that later) I’m linking up with Angela at Happy Fit Mama to high five this Friday despite my mixed emotions. Do you see the sacrifices I make for you?
If you have read this blog for any amount of time, you know I love my gear. Clothing, watches, shoes, you name it and I want the latest, greatest, most fun stuff the athletic world can throw at me. Today I want to share some of my recent finds with you.
Happy shopping!
1. Good Luck Box
The women behind this perfect idea for athletes, and those of us who love and encourage them, reached out to me a few months ago asking if I wanted to sample their box. Ok, that sounded really wrong but stay with me. The concept is simple – send someone gearing up for a big race or their first race or basically any race, a box of “luck” to let them know they can do it!
I have been on the giving and receiving end of goodie boxes and bags that I have put together from all my favorite things, or that friends have put together for me. I cannot tell you how much it helps and the encouragement you can draw from it! Good Luck Box has taken the shopping and boxing out of the equation and streamlined your good luck love so you can easily ship it all over the country.
Simply go to the website and fill out some basic information about the recipient and presto, the box of good luck will appear at their door and their gratefulness will abound! You also get to include a personal note. I addressed mine to my body from my mind…
The entire process was simple, my box arrived in plenty of time and I will definitely use each and every item in it. Plus, when it comes with Momentum Jewelry, you know it’s legit!

2. Olympic Gear
So you may already know that I just had to purchase the Brooks Victory Launch 3 running shoes but, there is so much more out there to show your Team USA pride, and look cool while doing it.
Luckily for me (and you) Women’s Running put it all in one article. These are my top two faves:
Costa Del Mar USA Limited Edition Sunglasses | $189
Nike Team USA Collection
There are tons of t-shirts, tanks, shoes, shorts, packs but I really love these Hurley Phantom Free flops for $70
3. Lumo
If you have not yet heard about Lumo Run technology, something tells me you will. Lumo touts itself as “more than just a tracker” and it absolutely is. I was sent a Lumo device to test out but I have yet to do it. Once I am able to run several times with it, I will be doing a complete review.
What is LUMO?
I am not a fan of running with my giant iPhone 6 Plus so we will see how it works both with and without it. I’m hoping to get some good feedback on my form and maybe see where I can make some improvements in my pelvic drop, since my butt pain tells me that is an issue. My coach also mentioned, at the beginning of the year, that I tend to “break” when I pick up the pace, which is obviously the opposite of what you want to do. Once I have all the info, I will report back!
Not only does Lumo promise to give you real time advice on your runs but also provides specific exercises to work on your weaknesses. One of the best parts? It’s machine washable, which is more than I can say for my stank HR monitor. Ugh.
4. #LiveUnlimited | Muscular Dystrophy Association’s Summer Campaign
Although I am late to the game on this one (sorry Jesica!) it is a very worthy cause that you can still donate to and be a part of. The best way to contribute is by buying this awesome bracelet at Endorphin Warrior for only $22, $6 of which is donated directly to MDA.
I was also given a bracelet to give to someone who is the embodiment of #LiveUnlimted and that person is Danielle Hastings of The T-Rex Runner. For the past two weeks, Danielle has been in Nicaragua building a bridge.

Danielle, on the bridge she helped build, with all the children who came to adore her awesomeness while she was there.
She lived in a tent among 12 strangers, slept in puddles of water (because she’s in a jungle), sweat through all of her clothes, bathed in mosquito repellent (I’m guessing) and is just working her ass off and being a better person than almost anyone I know. Think about how you spent your summer vacation, then read about what Danielle has done to change the lives of hundreds of people, and hang your head in shame.
Thank you Danielle, for living unlimited and literally making the world a better place.

What is your favorite piece of gear lately?
Will you be watching the opening ceremony of the Olympics?
How do you #LiveUnlimited?
What an awesome idea with the Good Luck box! Super cute. And btw – giggling over sampling your box. Lol!!!!! I can’t believe it’s only one week until Nationals. Your body is right – YOU ARE SO READY FOR THIS!!!
Isn’t it such a great idea? I have so many friends in mind to give these to!!
And so glad you get my humor 🙂 Have a great weekend!!
I can’t believe it’s almost here. What a great idea with the good luck box!
Me either!!! And I just love the whole concept behind the good luck box. I’ll have to send you one each week 🙂
I want a good luck box! Not for a race or anything but simply because…lol. I love this idea!! Sorry that triathalon season is almost over but you are going to do so well in this one then you can concentrate on taking over the vegas strip!!
You could totally do it “just because!” Love that!!
Thanks so much Nellie and you know I’m all about taking over Vegas!
I love that Good Luck Box! What a fantastic idea!
Isn’t it? Runners just come up with the best ones. I bet they thought of it on a run 🙂
Have a great weekend Wendy!
I love the good luck box idea!!! And of course I love that you wrote a note to yourself…. I’m working on living my life unlimited…. I just signed up to do something that I’ve been wanting to do for a couple of years but at the same time scared to do on Monday…. really it’s not that big a of a deal, unless you’re a complete chicken like me.
OMG what it is??? I’ll have to stalk your feed. I wish I knew sooner…I could have sent you a good luck box 🙂
Let’s see if I’m able to take a pic of said adventure… if I am, you know I’ll be posting it…. think flight… think circus… at least a certain favorite yoga instructor is accompanying me (but doesn’t know what we’re doing) as we have agreed to do something new together every Monday in August and take turns surprising the other… I may just need to cling to him on Monday… It’s a difficult life.
I love the idea of the good luck box! That might be just what I need for motivating some of my marathon training group as race days approach. Or at least for myself! I am so excited for you – one more week!! You’re going to dominate it. That Live Unlimited bracelet is a current favorite piece of gear for me as well.
YES! Totally!! It works for everyone – especially with the personal note included.
#LiveUnlimited and thanks Laura!
Ohhh I love all of the Olympics gear! I doubt Canada has as cool of stuff, but now I’m going to be on the hunt for it, because I really do get sick of walking around naked covered in red and white body paint. A nice pair of shoes and sunglasses would be a welcome change.
LOL – you are hilarious!! I’m sure Canada came up with some cool stuff. I remember one Olympics in Vancouver everyone needed those RED gloves with the maple leaf!! I still have a pair since my stepmom is French Canadian 🙂 #OhCanada
Outstanding! Can’t believe you’re a week out. It’s going to be amazing!!
The good luck box sounds fun, I’ve never tried any of the subscription type of services but this one sounds fun. I always like pep talk and encouragement. I still want my phone to tell me I’m amazing and fabulous every morning and throughout the day. Is there an App for that???!!!
I dig the Olympic gear, and those flip flops are rad!! My favorite gear right now is my baby monitor with camera and screen so I can watch the baby if I workout. What a lifesaver! And my hubby. He’s the best gear lol. Seriously though I’ve been so low gear lately, I’m feeling almost primal in my workouts. 30 min is really quick so if I forget my phone or don’t have music I don’t care. However if I have more time I did watch Netflix on my iPad once or twice.
Happy Friday Ali!!!
Yes, there is an app for that – it’s called Instagram 🙂
I was just marveling at baby monitors in Target the other day. I cannot believe you can watch from your phone now! Of course, we had to buy two monitors, cameras, etc.
Keep watching your Netflix (and the baby) and forget the rest. #PrimalWorkouts
GIRL! You are too sweet! Waking up to this made my morning. Thank you so much! I am incredibly humbled and honored and I’m super excited about my bracelet. I absolutely cannot wait to hear how you do in Omaha – it’s almost better than the Olympics tbh.
You deserve so much more than a bracelet. I’m sure you are sick of me gushing over you but I’m just in awe. I don’t think I would have lasted 7 hours doing what you were doing. Truly inspiring!!!
I’ll email you for your address so I can get you your bracelet ASAP!!
Good luck! Breathe. Thanks for the Good Luck Box idea. Sending some to my nieces go their upcoming obstacle race, on your recommendation.
Thank you!!!
So glad you will use the code and get some good luck to your nieces. Let me know how they like them!
Whoa… Danielle sounds incredible! I could see my sister doing something like that. I’ll have to share this with her!
She is truly amazing. I hope you shared and had fun reading all about her adventures. It’s a great blog to follow as she is doing stuff like that all.the.time.
