Happy freakin Friday people! We made it. Another week has passed us by and we are now ready to let the weekend wash over us like a cool and refreshing adult beverage.
Today, not only am I linking up with Happy Fit Mama but I’m also giving you a chance to win a sassy pink hat from my friends at TrailHeads!
High Five Friday is all about being positive and writing about the good things that happened all week long. So, basically I can’t bitch about how I was solo parenting for two days, how my kids can’t seem to sleep through the night lately, and the countless people I wanted to say  M.Y.O.B. to this week. Nope. What I can tell you is, despite my petty issues, I had a fantastic week.
THE WEATHER
Seriously. The last five days we have had almost perfect weather. It’s been a cool 60 degrees or so in the morning for my runs and then warms up into the low to mid-80s, with tons of sunshine, for the rest of the afternoon. If this is Fall, then bring it on baby!
FOOTBALL
You know I love my football and Sundays just got so much better around here. The Packers and the Patriots won last week, and that makes for a very happy household. I can only hope my Packers destroy the Seahawks this weekend. Someone has to. #GoPackGo
ODDBALL COMEDY TOUR
My husband I were able to go to the Oddball Comedy Tour, with six friends, here in Hartford last weekend. Â Amy Schumer and Aziz Ansari were the headliners, but were probably the most disappointing of the comedians. Since this is a purely positive post, I won’t tell you that we had to wait in a ridiculous line for drinks and, after the show had to walk (in wedges and a silk shirt!) in the rain back to our parking spot. #ImTooOldForThatCrap
What I will tell you is some of the other comedians, like Bridget Everett and Anthony Jeselnik, gave two of the funniest performances I have seen in a while. I’m talking tears and “I can’t breathe” kind of laughing. You really haven’t lived until you’ve seen this:
FREELANCING
I was so excited to finally see my first article published for Women’s Running! Things in this area have been looking up and I have more news coming soon…

Obviously I wasn’t too anxious to take this screen shot. I waited 9 whole hours after it was published.
TRAILHEADS
As you know, I love sharing my favorite things with you guys. The mesh hat TrailHeads sent me when I was running from wild animals in New Hampshire over the summer, has become one of my favorites. It has a smaller fit, perfect for my womanly head, is super breathable and washes well. What else can you ask for in a running hat?
To enter, simply leave a comment telling me why you need or want this hat and what, besides running, you will do in it. Keep it clean ladies.
What do you have to high five for this Friday?
oh I LOVE Anthony Jeselnik too!
And whenever we see standup it does seem the headliners are always the least funny.
This week Im high fiving MY DARN SELF for hanging in and on.
LOVE IT! Keep hanging woman!
What wouldn’t I do in this hat?!?! I can just picture myself wearing it on my first post injury run. It will just complete the joy factor! Thanks for linking up and spreading the good!
OMG YES!!!!
Oh man!! I’m sad that Aziz and Amy weren’t that funny!!! Aziz is one of my all time favorites and I’ve got a recent girl crush on Amu after seeing Train wreck!! Glad the other comedians were awesome.
Congrats on the article!! So so proud of you!! Don’t forget the little people (aka me)!
The weather was quite perfect, I just wish I could take advantage!
It broke my heart because I love both of them. I think Aziz was drunk or high or both. He was last to come on, around 11pm so…
THANKS! And you are the woman I look up to so I should be saying that to YOU!
I thought about you on my “long run” today b/c is blew up! I mean BOOOMMMM in the worst way. I only made it 13 miles because of these speed intervals I was doing. So, don’t despair! It happens to us all and my right leg is “zinging” like crazy!!! Next week is another week. Press on!
Quite honestly, for whatever reason, I have mold growing in my running hat and I NEED a new hat. I take it off and dry it out after every run and wash it in the next load and it is still GROSS. My other running hat isn’t thick enough so when I have to go out at 4:30 am to beat the KS heat, my head lamp digs a hole in my head and makes me run oh not so fun. So anyway, PICK ME!
OMG I think you have to win. That is insane and gross and just wow. Running at 4:30am is serious dedication!! I’m not sure anyone can beat you on this one woman 🙂
I only have one running cap I like, I’d love to have a second to swap out when the other is in the wash and that one looks super cute! What do I do in my cap besides run — drive my kid to school at 7am with bed hair, wear it on the boat in the summer, to the pool, and spectating anything outside in the sun!
Only one?? Obviously you need one for running and another to hide the bed head 🙂
Woohoo!! Welcome to the WR team!! The editors are awesome 🙂
Yes they are! Thanks so much Danielle!!!
I have yet to get a good running hat, I would love to have this one!
And this one is SO GOOD!
This –> “ready to let the weekend wash over us like a cool and refreshing adult beverage” Yes please! It’s been a freaking long week. I LOVE hearing about your freelance success. It makes me so happy. There are definitely little members of our household who are happy that it’s Packers season again. And why oh why won’t they sleep through the night anymore? Mine too.
And this pink hat? Love the color. So much more fun than my plain old white hat.
Well Christine you are certainly motivating with all the writing success you have had lately! I just love that we can share and swap out articles and boost each other up so THANK YOU!
I have no idea what is happening to sleep as I know it but someone needs to make it stop! They are supposed to be ridiculously tired!!!
So disappointing that those 2 comedians (2 of my favorites) were not that good:(. Congrats on the publication! Looking forward to seeing what more you have in store #cantgetenoughallie
It really was. I was SO looking forward to their sets and they just fell flat. Not cool.
Thanks so much Paria. That is a huge compliment coming from a published (many times over) WR contributor!
Loved this post. So much. From the boys not sleeping through the night all of a sudden – why, when they go back to school and NEED their rest, do they not sleep?!? to your “womanly head” — this is definitely one the the highest fives for this week!
BTW, using your recommendation for that hydration pack. Gulp…I’m (ridiculously?) nervous! This makes it more real, somehow…50k, here I come!
Seriously! Why is the reverse of sleep with the start of school happening and how can I make it stop?
Did you get the Orange Mud Hydra Quiver??? I just used mine again today for a 15 miler. LOVE! I cannot even imagine 50K but you will crush it…and be well hydrated.
Just ordered the double quiver today! Thanks to you and Michelle @ NYCRunningMama of course…fingers AND toes are crossed it works well and doesn’t chafe because WOW $150 felt like a lot to spend!!
I know! That price tag stings but I have worn mine on so, so many long sweaty runs and zero chafing! Good luck 🙂
Congrats on the article, Allie! The weather here has been great this week too – I love the cool mornings!
I’d like the hat because my old hat has some grimy stuff on the inside, despite my washing it (and myself). And my hat is white, which everyone knows you shouldn’t wear after Labor Day.
This sounds like a true fashion emergency!
Thanks Dana 🙂
Um OMG! Can we talk about amazing that your article was published!?!??!? That would make it a very good week indeed! Congrats! A big high five for that.
Thanks so much Britt! I will definitely be celebrating that one 🙂
Wow I’m just now getting into football. Thanks to my husband, Friday night lights on Netflix which I binge watched, hard knocks on HBO and JJ Watt. So slowly but surely I will care a teensy bit more about the games. This is my gift to my husband. lol the sacrifices we make. Just kidding! Happy Friday!
LOL – yes, the sacrifices! Enjoy…
I’ve always been iffy on wearing hats while running, I’ve wanted to try it but haven’t invested in one to try yet. It would be so nice to have in the summer!
Some people prefer visors but I find it’s harder to find a good fit with those. I would be interested to see how you like it…
very cool about WR! I really look forward to checking that out right after this. You’re big stuff in the running community lady! I have one running hat, my St. Jude Hero hat I received for running as a hero at the Nashville marathon back in April. 🙂 I love it but it’s super lightweight so the wind is constantly trying to blow it off my head lol If I had a new hat I think I’d wear it backwards and strut around like a boss. ;-P happy Friday!
LOL – you should totally do that!!…and thank you 🙂 Not quite such a big deal but very excited for the WR piece!
I have a special race coming up and would love to wear that there….and anywhere really….it’s super cute!
Good luck with your special race!!
Just last month I bought my first running hat. I love it and it fits well but it’s white and doesn’t wash well. Since I’m new to wearing hats I need to find a good one. I’m would love to try a trailhead hat.
Welcome to the world of hats!! White is great for the summer but unfortunately isn’t best for all the sweating and subsequent washing 🙂
This is such a great hat! I would use it while running, hiking, and biking.
Three of my favorite things! Thanks DJ.
I need to get on this link train…I am so good at pointing out the negatives I fail to look at the good things…but the sucky things are so much more pronounced. I’m on week 5 of solo parenting…I feel your pain!
I hear you. It’s so sad but writing a completely positive post is kind of hard!!…but it makes you feel better for sure.
I have no clue how you’re solo parenting for that long my friend. My kids are in school all day and I usually only have 2-3 days of being “alone.” Hang in there and keep the wine flowing!
