I got this idea when GQ Magazine published a similar article titled “Who Tweeted It? Donald Trump or Random Teen?” It was hilarious and started me thinking about how pregnancy and running have so much in common, except I was not able to do one (run) while I was the other (pregnant).
I decided you all needed to know about this phenomenon in the funniest possible way. Here are my choices for best running and pregnancy tweets – you decide which is which…
Was this tweeted just after running a marathon or anytime during pregnancy?
I ATE 5 DONUTS TODAY AND I AM MASSIVELY REGRETTING IT. I SHOULD HAVE JUST HAD 4.
Many moms will tell you that everything loosens up after a pregnancy. Everything. Runners will tell you this happens on almost every run…
THAT AWKWARD MOMENT WHEN YOU’RE NEAR A FRIENDS HOUSE AND WANT TO TEXT THEM “HEY CAN I POOP IN YOUR BATHROOM REAL QUICK?”
If you’re constantly in marathon training mode, you get used to carbs. When you’re pregnant you don’t want anyone’s opinion on anything and especially your food choices…
IT WAS SUGGESTED I CUT CARBS TO MAINTAIN A HEALTHIER WEIGHT. FRANKLY I’D RATHER CUT THE PERSON WHO SUGGESTED IT.
Some people train so their marathon finish coincides with Easter or Halloween for this very reason. I guess the same could be planned out for pregnancy…
IT’S A PERFECT SITUATION AT EASTER, BRING ON ALL THE CHOCOLATE, SEXY CHOCOLATE!
My “getting out of bed roll” both during the last month of my pregnancy and the morning after the NYC marathon were equally unattractive…
CAN’T SIT UP IN BED TO GET UP. NOW HAVE TO DO A RATHER ATTRACTIVE ROLL OFF THE SIDE.
This is why I always just go to the salon pretty much after every major race. While pregnant I think I forgot I had toes…
NOW IF SOMEONE WOULD PLEASE HELP ME WITH MY PEDICURE, I CAN’T REACH MY TOES!
Think you did well? Here are the real tweets…

In case you don’t know, Shalane is a runner! And if you don’t know that, I’m not sure you understand anything about this blog post…Sorry.
What else do running and pregnancy have in common?
Did you get them right?
um
what does it say I DID GET EM ALL RIGHT??
and I dont run.
and Ive never been pregnant!
This just proves your awesomeness 🙂
I definitely thought the first one was a pregnancy one but the others I got! Also, the bit about cutting out carbs is hilarious. Although what ob/gyn seriously advocates cutting out an entire food group essential for nutrition, energy and baby development?? Good riddance!
That is EXACTLY what I thought!!! It would be much better advice to a runner in the off-season but cutting DOWN and not off. So crazy!
As a runner who has been pregnant I got them all right! This is awesomeness for my Friday morning reads 🙂
Love it Jill!! Thank you!
Ha this is hilarious. I’ve never been pregnant but it is interesting how similar some of the quotes can be. I’m laughing way before 6 am. LOL
That was my plan! Someone has to fuel you with LOLZ that early 🙂
I love it! And I think I’ve said each of them as a runner and a pregnant lady!
Yep! I also find it funny how much I love to run yet loathed being pregnant. Hmmmm.
haha this is awesome. Love it!
oh my stars!!! i can’t stop laughing over here… this. is. the. BEST. thank you 🙂 happy friyay
So glad you enjoyed it. Just what every Friday needs – light and funny 🙂 Is it time for cocktails yet?
Hahaha this is so funny! I’ve never been pregnant but I can definitely relate to the running ones – although the one about the OB telling someone to cut out carbs is crazy!
Isn’t it?? Time for a new doctor!
This is hilarious!!! I’ve likened marathon training to a pregnancy and crossing the finish line to giving birth!! Nothing else in my life has been so painful, so euphoric, and so rewarding!!!
Exactly! Although I think I would rather run 50 marathons in 50 days then give birth to the twins again!!
Hahahaha, this is SO TRUE! Thanks for the laugh…this 5 hour flight to Vegas is dragging and I needed a laugh 🙂
So glad I could help you with that! Have SO MUCH FUN running the strip!!!!
This is all so true and no I could not tell! Pregnancy and running are insanely similar oh thing things we go through with our bodies!! I love that Shalene tweeted about donuts. Love her!!
She really is so awesome. And I don’t think she should ever regret eating that many donuts 🙂
These are hilarious! I have a bad back, and have often done the unattractive roll out of bed to protect it. Problem is, my bed is pretty high and it’s hard to land on my feet from the roll position! #shortpersonproblems
OMG I have had the same issue! Being short comes with a whole host of problems that only we understand!!
