A lot of things are making me say “what the hell?” lately, and doing a little research for a possible MLK post was no different.  I knew I didn’t want to post the usual rundown today in observance of the holiday. As holidays go, I believe this one is actually very important, so I started looking up some articles on the man, the myth, the legend –  Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

I barely got through the very first one when I read this:

“It wasn’t until the year 2000 that all 50 states officially observed Martin Luther King Jr. Day.  The last states to join up where Arizona in 1992, New Hampshire in 1999, and Utah in 2000.  The holiday itself was originally signed into federal law by President Ronald Reagan in 1983, with the first MLK holiday on January 20, 1986.”

To which I have to say “What the hell Arizona, New Hampshire and Utah?” Did you also not let women vote or run in marathons because it might hurt their birthing hips? #sad

Let's keep this in mind as you read on...

With that in mind, here are some other things (not related to MLK Day) that make me question my world:

Labeling Socks – Do we really need little L’s and R’s on running socks? When did this trend start and how do I make it stop? Are you seriously trying to tell me that, all of a sudden, it matters which foot you put your sock on? Come on! The only reason I even care is because every time, without fail, I put the one marked “L” on my right foot. And, because I’m crazy, I have to switch it. WTH?

I found a chat site titled “The dire consequences of putting your Left running sock on your Right foot!

I like what this guy said: These sock manufacturers are trying to trigger OCD in people with this shit…like “oh I lost the R sock so I guess I’ll have to throw out the L”. Or better yet the pack of socks with a different accent color for EACH PAIR! I’m tired of their attempts at getting me to buy more socks.

Of course someone else chimed in with this: Look, you guys. Before 1822, people didn’t realize the need for having left and right shoes either. You just wait 🙂

I absolutely love my Feetures socks but is this necessary?

Serial The Podcast – By now you’ve probably heard of this already. I know because I’m usually the very last person to pick up on a trends, let alone a podcast trend. I have never listened to a podcast or book while I was running and holy crap have I been missing out! Without giving anything away, I will say that if you listen while running in a heavily wooded area, you may have to continually remind yourself that no one is going to try to kill you and bury your body in a shallow grave. On the bright side, it will make you run faster!

Obsess much? Yes. Thank you.

DILFsHave you heard of this? In case you’re not aware of the acronym it’s ‘Dad’s I’d Like To F**k.’ I wasn’t even aware that MILFs had some sort of male equals but what is really disturbing is that there’s an Instagram account dedicated to DILFs at Disneyland. Disneyland people! Holding children. What the hell is sexy about that? The account has over 200,000 followers. I have just over 500. WTH?

And no, I’m not linking to that account you sick-o, but here’s the link to MINE.

I could go on and on, and tell you about the woman who got drunk on vanilla extract and couldn’t find her way out of a Walmart parking lot but, on this day, maybe we should get back to dreaming of a better world…

Share your WTH of the weekend!

What do you think about labeling socks?

Are you one of the DILF Disneyland Instagram followers?
